Sample Area Information Dialog

The Sample Area information dialog box displays information about a sample area. It also allows certain built-in parameters as well as all user-defined parameters to be changed.

The dialog is accessed by right-clicking on a sample area on the map.

The dialog contains the following controls:

Area Name:

Edit the title of the sample area / room.

Base Area:

View size of sample areas (for a room this the area of the floor).

Surface Area:

View total area of all surfaces.

Perimeter:

View distance around base of sample area.

Volume:

View total volume of sample area.

Room Height:

Edit the height of the room. Setting to 0 resets to regular sample area.

3D Height:

Edit the height / depth of 3-dimensional sample area. Setting to 0 resets to regular sample area.

Above Ground:

Set 3-dimensional area as above ground level.

Below Ground:

Set 3-dimensional area as below ground level.

3D Elevation Data

This section is used to create or remove 3D elevation mappings for a sample area.

Keep

Make no changes to the 3D elevation mappings of this sample area.

Map from Contours

Create elevation mappings from contours for this sample area when the dialog is closed.

Erase

Delete elevation mappings from this sample area when the dialog is closed.

Include Floor:

Choose whether to include floor surface in the sampling of a room.

Include Ceiling:

Choose whether to include ceiling surface in the sampling of a room.

Include Walls:

Choose whether to include wall surfaces in the sampling of a room

Change Color:

Pick a new color for the sample area / room. Disabled if doing color by value.

Area Type:

For the Compare Average to Reference Average designs, use this control to specify which sample area is the reference (background) area and which is the survey (study) area.

Floor Surface:

Select the surface type for the floor surface in room sampling. The surface type can be changed by right-clicking on the floor in the Room View . Surface types must be defined first.

Ceiling Surface:

Select the surface type for the ceiling surface in room sampling. The surface type can be changed by right-clicking on the ceiling in the Room View . Surface types must be defined first.

Default Wall Surface:

Select the default surface type for the wall surfaces in room sampling. The surface type can be changed for individual wall surfaces by right-clicking on them in the Room View. Surface types must be defined first.

User Defined Parameters:

Edit the values of the user defined parameters for this sample area / room.

 

Important note about Z-Offsets: Sample Areas (and Rooms) do not have a Z-Offset of their own.  Their Z-Offset is derived from the Map Layer which contains them (see the Map Lines section on the Layer Control Bar).  To control which layer contains the Sample Area, make sure that only the desired Map Layer is selected when you create the Sample Area.  To set the Z-Offset of the layer, select the layer on the Layer Control Bar and change the Z-Offset on the Property Bar.
