VSP Training for NRC and NRC Agreement States

This 3.5 day general VSP course is sponsored by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its technical staff and certain staff within Agreement State Regulatory Programs. The course will cover a review of systematic planning principles, statistical concepts, MARSSIM tools and modules, VSP maps/options/maneuvering procedures, and an introduction to the most used sampling design options through a series of hands-on case studies. Other topics covered include geostatistical mapping and estimation methods, spatial and temporal redundancy analysis, analyte redundancy analysis, multi-increment sampling, spatial sample location additions, within-building sampling for chem/bio/rad constituents, radiological survey design and analysis, item sampling, and dealing with non-detects. This course will not cover the unexploded ordnance (UXO) modules.

This course will take place at the NRC Technical Training Center in Chattanooga, TN. NRC staff should register through the NRC iLearn system and Agreement State personnel must apply through Marcia Casby in NMSS.  There may be a limited number of slots available for staff from other federal government agencies to attend this course.
