MARSSIM Background Correction

When working with building surfaces in MARSSIM designs, you can use these options to adjust the estimated means and standard deviations to compensate for interfering background radiation.  These corrections apply to the MARSSIM Sign Unity Rule and MARSSIM Sign Gross Activity designs for buildings.

This dialog has the following controls:

Material Specific Background Subtraction

Select whether you want to correct the background for specific materials

No Correction

 

Corrected for Specific Materials

Use the controls listed below to setup the list of materials

Material selector

Use this combo box to enter a material name or choose one from a list

Add to List button

Click this button to add the material to the list

Material list

This is the list of specific materials to use to correct activity measurements.  The corresponding material activity means and standard deviations are entered on the main design page in the Mean and Standard Deviation table

Remove from List button

Click this button to remove the selected material from the list

Ambient Gamma Correction

Select how you want to correct for ambient gamma radiation

No Correction

 

Subtract Average from Survey Unit

The average background mean and standard deviation are entered on the main design page in the Mean and Standard Deviation table

Two measurements (shielded / unshielded)

Note: this would be handled outside of VSP and the net activity would be entered into VSP
