When working with building surfaces in MARSSIM designs, you can use these options to adjust the estimated means and standard deviations to compensate for interfering background radiation. These corrections apply to the MARSSIM Sign Unity Rule and MARSSIM Sign Gross Activity designs for buildings.
This dialog has the following controls:
Material Specific Background Subtraction |
Select whether you want to correct the background for specific materials |
No Correction |

Use the controls listed below to setup the list of materials |
Material selector |
Use this combo box to enter a material name or choose one from a list |
Add to List button |
Click this button to add the material to the list |
Material list |
This is the list of specific materials to use to correct activity measurements. The corresponding material activity means and standard deviations are entered on the main design page in the Mean and Standard Deviation table |
Remove from List button |
Click this button to remove the selected material from the list |
Ambient Gamma Correction |

Subtract Average from Survey Unit |
The average background mean and standard deviation are entered on the main design page in the Mean and Standard Deviation table |
Two measurements (shielded / unshielded) |
Note: this would be handled outside of VSP and the net activity would be entered into VSP |
