Composite Samples

When working with Presence / Absence or Discovery Designs using grid cells, you can choose to group the grid cell samples into composite groups.  Each composite group is indicated by a unique color on the map outlined by a polygon of that same color.

If you want to change a grid cell sample's composite group, there are two ways to accomplish it:

First, you can use the mouse to move the sample to a different group.  Click and hold the Left Mouse Button down on the grid cell sample and then drag the cursor inside another group outline.  When you release the mouse button the grid cell sample will be assigned to the new group.  Note: the position of the grid cell itself will not change, just the outline indicating which composite group contains it.

Second, you can Right-Click on the grid cell to display the Grid Cell Sample Information dialog:

From this dialog, choose a different Composite ID from the drop list.  After clicking OK, the grid cell sample will be assigned to the new group.  Select <New> to break the grid cell out into its own new composite group.  Other grid cells can then be added to it.

Note:  you cannot assign a grid cell to a composite group on a different surface.  (This option may be added in future releases of VSP.)
